If the company is listed with SEC, there will be reports must be filled with it. To get more knowledge, there are many kinds of reports you can get there (quarterly reports, annual reports, periodic reports of significant events, and other reports).
The following points are referring to companies that are listed with SEC:
- If the company has 500 or more investors.
- If its assets are about $10 million or more.
- If it lists its securities on NASDAQ, NYSE, AMEX, or OTCBB.
On the other hand, there are other points that can guide you to know those companies that are not listed with SEC:
- Small companies are not listed with SEC or we can call them micro-cap companies.
- If the company’s assets are less than $10 million.
Generally, there are some smaller companies are listed with SEC which means there is no absolute rule in penny stocks.
